Lorenz Heckelmann founded the company in 1924. In the early years, helo® concentrated on the production of wooden shoes in the home business. Little by little, more employees joined the company to meet the growing demand. Step by step, the founder's sons and grandchildren in the following generations expanded the family business into a leading production company for household goods made of wood and plastic, which is now managed by Hartwig Heckelmann and his son Philipp. The top priority was always high-quality production. helo® offers its partners absolute quality goods with a long durability and high functionality. The environmental aspect is playing an increasingly important role, as helo® almost exclusively uses wood from sustainable forestry (FSC & PEFC) and recycled plastics.
Clothespins and promotional items complement the range
From 1945, wooden clothespins in a wide variety of versions were added to the range. In 1954, helo® also began producing plastic pegs. Wooden goods such as snacks and cutting boards became established in the helo® product range in the 1960s. In the 1970s, the company began producing wooden spoons. In 1980, helo® opened a new division with a wide range of wooden promotional items. A segment that has grown above average since then due to the high demand. The items here are provided with individual branding, printing or laser engraving. Custom-made items are also possible.
Leading provider
Today, helo® is one of the world's largest suppliers of clothes pegs. Helo® is also one of the market leaders in the kitchen appliances and wooden plates segment. Helo® has also made a name for itself as a producer of high-quality individual items such as wooden boxes and stove covers. The range is rounded off by leisure items and, above all, by a large selection of wooden advertising materials.
Numerous national and international protection rights for a wide variety of products, e.g. for plates, clamps, technical wooden parts, business card boxes, demonstrate the innovative spirit of the company.
Production with sensitivity and the latest technology
As the segment became more and more diverse, the need for larger production facilities also grew. The first expansion phase took place in 1948 with the construction of a new hall. Since then, the company premises have been continuously expanded to accommodate the new technology. Because helo® always paid attention to the latest state of the art technology as the basis for its high-quality products. Today, CNC machines for the highest precision dominate the production facilities. In addition, high-quality handwork continues to play a very important role in exclusive products. In addition to the administration complex, two production halls as well as several warehouses and a high-bay warehouse form the core of the company.
Wood by Conviction
